Good news for anyone thinking of buying a new car. The much awaited, 3rd generation model of it’s popular Sedan, all new city with its 1.3 liter i-VTEC engine finally launched in Pakistan on Saturday Jan 31st, 2009 was definitely worth the wait.
It’s brand new look, high-tech knobs and meters, smaller steering-wheel, well-researched seats, improved air-conditioning ventilators, aerodynamic exterior, is far more spacious than its predecessor. But the best feature of this City is ABS (Automatic Anti-lock Braking system). The DBW (drive by wire) technology and ABS form a lethal combo when it comes to controlling the vehicle.

Honda City’s standard version starts from Rs. 13,09,000, whiles it automatic (five speed automatic transmission) model will cost Rs. 14,29,000 seems to be a bit costly of the kind of consumers its predecessors had.
Atsushi Yamazaki, President & CEO Honda Atlas Cars (Pakistan) Limited said, the launch of the new City marks a very important day in the Honda’s history in Pakistan. Honda City made its debut in 1996 to meet the requirements of Honda customers in Asia and as a result was introduced in Pakistan in 1997. Over the last ten years The City has grown to be an important model sold in 39 countries reaching beyond the Asian Region.
With the new City in town you can go ahead and treat yourself to a new Car in the new Year.
Mai tai Honda he lai saan!
I am always surprised to see this City being referred to as “Third generation” City. It is at least the fifth generation of this car, whereas the first generation was launched in 1981.
It feels great to see City now coming equipped with useful enhancements like ABS and a five speed auto transmission. It continues to reflect that Honda adds some real value in its new models instead of just adding stuff like a vanity mirror or a coin holder.
And what does not feel great is that tail lights somehow seem to have been taken from BMW 3 series (E90).
You’ve posed a good question, basically you’re mixing two things. The first generation city that was launched as a three-door hatchback, back in 1981, was not the first generation City for Asians.
Asians First generation (1996-2000) City was launched in 1996,designed solely for Asian markets, quickly responding to the growing needs for automobiles in Asian markets associated with economic growth in the region.
Then for Asians, the second generation (2002-2008)City launched in 2002,(overall fourth generation City) was a major revolution over the previous model.
And now what we have here is a brand new version, third generation city.
What ABS (Automatic Braking system)?? It was Anti-Lock Braking System, not a long time ago.
my bad!
Thanks for the correction though!
lol @ automatic braking system…i wish AI [artificial intelligence] gets us there someday soon – by the way, its still anti-locking braking system meaning that your wheels do not lock (jam) when you press onto the brakes, which is exactly the case with conventional braking – the harder you brake the harder the braking and wheels literally lock thereby causing slipping off track…with ABS u get rid off it
